The Burlington Hotel was the venue for the Annual ì Christmasî Lunch of the C. A. R. Group ( Contact After Retirement) and the Elgin Suite was abuzz as retired members (both male and female) from the industry gathered and greeted each other like long lost friends.
Lunch was served and enjoyed by all, C A R President Jim Barton addressed the group and welcomed our guests Alan Nolan and Con Dalton from SIMI. Jim went on to say that the attendance of 64 was the highest attendance at any function held by C A R, he welcomed those who travelled from outside the Dublin area and expressed his wish to see more attendees from the provinces both male and female. It was noted that C.A.R. will be five years old in April.
SIMI Director General Alan Nolan in his address described the difficult year the Industry had in 2009 and always looking at the opportunities he talked about the Scrappage scheme as a incentive to encourage new car sales in 2010, Alan applauded the notion of C.A.R and its achievements todate and congratulated the President and his committee.
C.A.R Convenor Robert Prole asked Con Dalton (on behal f of Ben ) to accept a cheque for €927 towards the Ben fund, this money had accumuated over the past year from voluntary contributions from all those members who atended C.A.R outings .
